Our Konjac sponges are made of only natural Konjac (no chemicals, dyes, additives or irritants). Made from natural Konjac root, a porous vegetable that grows in Asia. They are a natural cleanser and exfoliator, gentle and suitable for everyday use. They can be used with or without a cleanser due to their naturally alkaline properties.
Good for your skin and the environment
100% biodegradable (can be composted).
How to use and store
Wet the konjac sponge in warm water until fully rehydrated, then gently wring it out to drain the water. Clean your face in small circles.
Konjac sponges can be used with a solid or liquid cleanser or au naturel (konjac is a naturally quite alkaline root, which gives it a gentle cleansing ability like soap)
Konjac sponges harden when dry, so just let them soak in the shower or sink for a minute to soften before using.
After use, rinse the Konjac sponge, wring it out gently to drain the water, and let it air dry (you can hang it with the string in our sponges).
You can disinfect Konjac sponges every two weeks by soaking them in a bowl of boiling water for three to four minutes. Replace the sponges every 6 to 8 weeks.
How they look
Konjac sponges are quite unique in that they are part of a plant root. They have a somewhat odd texture: completely stiff when dry, almost gel-like when wet.
They are not rough like regular sponges or looffas, and have a thin , fibrous natural outer layer that is very soft. It is perfectly suited for the most delicate skin on your face.
Konjac sponges are completely biodegradable, and can be thrown in the compost.
What is Konjac?
Konjac is a natural root, a porous potato-like vegetable that grows in Asia. It is rich in soluble fiber, making it a very popular food in Asian cuisine.
Because konjac root is very porous, it is easy to form it into mini sponges that resemble small cakes. Konjac sponges were first created by Japanese farmers to cleanse children's skin.
