How do you use the Dryer Balls?

the 100% natural softener

Dryer Balls

Dryer Balls are an all-natural, organic fabric softener, handmade from 100% wool. They replace traditional fabric softener, are fully reusable for over 1,000 loads and reduce drying time (they absorb moisture by absorbing up to 30% of their weight in water).

What do the Balls look like?

We have chosen to source the Dryer Balls from a manufacturer that respects all of our values.
The Balls are handmade by underprivileged women and people with disabilities in Kathmandu, Nepal, who are guaranteed I'm Coming! fair trade.

The products are certified Cruelty Free by Leaping Bunny. The wool comes from humanely treated and sheared sheep. It comes from a small consortium of family farms where no chemicals, hormones or pesticides are ever used, and of course no mulesing is done.

We use 100% recycled and 100% recyclable paper bags to package them.

How are they used?

Super easy! Just put the balls directly into the dryer with your laundry, and always use a moisture sensitive setting on your dryer. You can also stop the dryer 5-10 minutes before the end of its normal cycle. Don't overdry. Remember that over-drying produces static cling. The more balls you use per load, the better the effect and the shorter the drying time.

For fragrant laundry just add a few drops (3-5) of your favorite essential oil to each ball before each cycle.

You can also use them with a washer-dryer type machine. Insert only during the drying cycle. Add the dryer balls when the drying cycle starts, only after the wash cycle is over and all the water has come out.

How do they work?

The Balls absorb moisture in the dryer by absorbing up to 30% of their weight in water. In addition, their movement in the dryer helps separate clothes and sheets allowing air and heat to circulate and dry them faster. As your laundry dries, the dryer balls soften and evenly redistribute moisture in the dryer eliminating wrinkles, reducing static cling and providing a softer feel to your fabrics. The result is faster drying time, and softer, more manageable laundry.

How do you store them?

Always keep them in a well-ventilated area. Never store them in plastic.

To clean the balls, you can use a wet cloth on their surface - adding a little soap or wash them by hand in warm, soapy water.

You will need to replace the Balls when the felt starts to loosen, the balls will get bigger and softer and at some point they will eventually unravel. But don't worry because it will take years, 2 to 4 years, but it depends on how many loads you do.
